Marvel Teases with ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’

Posted on 21 July 2013 by Anisa

When Loki walked out onto the stage in Hall H SDCC today in full armor and regale, we were all captivated even though he was making fun of us for standing in line for so long. He was followed by a trailer from 'Thor: The Dark World' which received a huge applause but no other members of the cast were there for us. Disappointed and all the more mystified, we let that slide by as 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' cast Chris Evans came around and told us how comfortable he was getting in playing his role now. He spoke of the fact that Captain America is still adjusting to the complexities of the modern world, because lets face it, its a lot more than just black and white of the 1940's now. There are small nuances here that hint at the way we manage security nowadays, everything's a shade of grey. We also saw some footage of the movie that's directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and features Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes also known as 'The Winter Soldier'.

Up next was a panel for 'Guardians of The Galaxy' starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana and Benicio Del Toro, directed by James Gunn is still in production and just started shooting 10 days ago in the UK. There was limited information on the movie but we received footage from the movie for the first time and boy did the hall respond with frenzy. Oh, we also loved the fact that the entire cast was flown in from London just for this panel. We always notice that Marvel likes to do things big, so if we know Marvel, they've probably already made enough plans to make this movie a big hit when it comes in to the theaters on August 1, 2014.

But we did mention something about Avengers didn't we? Yes dear readers, Marvel left the best for the last when Joss Whedon walked out onto the stage at the end of the panels while a presentation was put on screen made up of voice overs from the avengers. It ended with a graphic 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' written on the screen. If you're wondering who Ultron is, he's a recent addition to Marvel's comics and is according to Marvel 'a criminally insane rogue sentient robot' created by Ant-Man. We have no idea how it will tie into the Avengers but we will keep you updated on the details of the production once we get them.

Possible Avengers Movie Villain Revealed

Posted on 02 March 2011 by Andrew

Tons of movie websites are scooping what they believe to be a legitimate source detailing the villains of the Avengers movie.  Latino Review has an article here with the original quote.  It basically says that Loki, Thor’s brother, will be the villain in the Avengers, and will most likely use the Cosmic Cube to summon the Skrulls.  This makes sense because the Cosmic Cube is supposed to be found in the upcoming Captain America film.  And obviously Loki will be introduced in the upcoming Thor movie.  Unless you’re a big comic nerd (and I’m really not either) this news may seem very confusing to you, but basically in summary – the Avengers are going to do battle with a bunch of really powerful aliens, and that is pretty darn cool.

A Few Comic-Con Trailers Online

Posted on 29 July 2010 by Andrew

San Diego Comic Con started a week ago, yet footage slowly keeps trickling online.  There is a ton of stuff to sift through, but these three trailers look very promising.  The first trailer is for the new AMC series “The Walking Dead”  and looks like it could be another classic show for their line up.  The show is based off of the popular graphic novel of the same name.

Walking Dead Trailer

Next is the Comic Con reel for Zack Snyder’s Sucker Punch.  This was brought online in HD by Apple a few days ago but the footage here is spectacular.  You’ll have to watch it a few times to catch everything.

Last but not least is the footage from the Thor panel that was put online yesterday.  This trailer is cut a lot slower than usual but it gives us a good sense as to what Thor looks like and how the two worlds will be shown in the movie.

Thor trailer and article

There are probably a ton more videos online but these were the three that caught my eye recently.  We have already posted the new Tron Legacy and Let Me In trailers that debuted at comic con as well.

The Avengers May Have a Director

Posted on 13 April 2010 by Andrew

Marvel may have found a director for The Avengers and his name is Joss Whedon.  If you’re not familiar with his name, you may be more familiar with his work.  Whedon Was the main writer on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, Angel, Dr. Horrible’s Sing-A-Long Blog, and Dollhouse.  He also directed the move Serenity, and was nominated for an Oscar as one of the many writers on Toy Story. Deadline is reporting that Whedon is in final negotiations to take the job.  This news had originally broke on April 1st, but most people assumed it was one of the many movie April Fool’s jokes that were all over the Internet.  Now, it has been confirmed that this was no joke.  Other director’s names like James Cameron and John Favreau had been tossed around.  Whedon is an interesting choice because he has only directed one film, Serenity, which didn’t do well at the box office.  His writing accomplishments can’t be denied though, and he is very popular among the fanboy/comic book generation.  We’ll see how this all plays out.  The directors of Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America all have a lot of say as to what goes into the film.  The writer of The Avengers, Zack Penn, has turned in the first draft of the film which the Marvel executives also have to approve.  Joss Whedon will have a lot of different ideas floating around from these people, so even though he is the director of the film, many other talented people are going to put their signature looks on this.  I think Whedon is a great pick for this movie because it once again shows that Marvel has put their faith in a new director and trusts him to make what may be one of the most expensive movies of all time.  The Avengers will come out on the first weekend in May of 2012.

Thor Steps in for Spidey

Posted on 07 January 2010 by David

Tuesday came bearing news that because of apparent script issues, Sony would likely be ditching their proposed May 6, 2011 release date for the latest entry of their hugely successful SPIDER-MAN franchise.

With the first weekend of the 2011 summer movie season now up for grabs, Variety reports that Paramount has done some shuffling, and another Marvel Comics hero will be taking Spidey’s place. Originally slated for May 20th, Kenneth Branagh’s fantasy/super hero epic THOR will be bumped up two weeks to fill the slot.

Disney also appears to have made a quick move, setting the release of PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES to Thor’s old spot.

With such a high-profile sequel following closely it’s wake, it’ll be interesting to see what kind of numbers a B-list comic character like Thor will be able to pull from movie-goers. It’s easy to assume that everyone at Paramount and Marvel have their fingers crossed that lightening will strike twice, and that the film will be as well received commercially and critically as 2008’s IRON MAN.

Personally? Even with the respectable cast and director, I think I’m going to have to see a trailer surface before my interest is really sparked.
