Matt Damon might direct Yankees movie The Trade

Posted on 08 October 2010 by Joey DC

MTV reports that Ben and Casey Affleck as well as Matt Damon are reteaming to make The Trade, a based-on-real-life tale of Fritz Peterson and Mike Kekich, two 1970s Yankees pitchers who swapped wives.

First news about another Damon/Affleck collaboration surfaced back in February, when Deadline revealed that the real-life best buds would star as the two pitchers, with Affleck directing. MTV News spoke with Ben Affleck about the status of the project and he said that all three are still involved in the project but some of the specifics have changed.

I don’t know how it’ll come together, acting and directing, but Casey and I have decided to write it together. Once the script’s kind of ready, then it’s like: Who’s doing what? What’s the time frame? Matt, me, Casey directing? Particularly for Matt, he’s had this extraordinary career where he’s worked with these great directors. He’s a great director who just hasn’t directed a movie.

No doubt that Matt has learned from the best directors you can imagine and it would be really great to see his directorial debut with The Trade.

“We Bought a Zoo” might get Matt Damon

Posted on 24 June 2010 by Joey DC

One of Hollywood’s most talented and dedicated actors, Matt Damon, is far far away from retiring anytime soon. And as a huge Damon admirer, I certainly won’t complain. After his controversial “Green Zone” in March, his upcoming sci-fi “The Adjustment Bureau” in September and the approaching western “True Grit” in December,  Mr. Damon is now in talks to star in director Cameron Crowe’s, “We Bought a Zoo.”

“We Bought a Zoo” is based on a memoir by Benjamin Mee. It tells the true account of how the author and his family used their life savings to buy a dilapidated zoo, replete with 200 exotic animals facing destruction, in the English countryside.

Mee, along with his children, had to balance caring for his wife, who was dying of brain cancer, with dealing with escaped tigers, raising endangered animals, working with an eclectic skeleton crew and readying the zoo for a reopening.

According to ComingSoon, the movie would start filming in January for a December 23, 2011 release.

“Bourne 4” with Tony Gilroy

Posted on 10 June 2010 by Joey DC

After a lot of speculation and back and forth about “Bourne 4”, it sounds like there is finally some news from someone who should know best what’s going on. “Bourne” Trilogy Producer Frank Marshall posted on his Twitter that “Tony Gilroy, the keeper of the Bourne flame, is back with us to write the treatment for #4, THE BOURNE LEGACY…” and Deadline states that he’s also writing “what studio insiders are calling the ‘Bourne Bible’.

Tony Gilroy is the mastermind who wrote all three “Bourne” screen plays. That’s why his return to the successful “Bourne” franchise could be also considered a jackpot for Universal and “Bourne” fans from all around the world if they get Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass (Matt said he won’t do “Bourne 4” without Paul, and Paul said he’s not doing another “Bourne” movie).

Let’s hope that Tony Gilroy’s return is reason enough for Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon to sign on for “Bourne 4.” After all, Matt Damon IS Jason Bourne, and Jason Bourne needs Paul Greengrass behind the cameras.

They are hoping to release the movie for 2012.

First Official Trailer for The Adjustment Bureau

Posted on 14 May 2010 by Joey DC

“The Adjustment Bureau” was supposed to hit theaters this July, but Universal has rescheduled the movie’s release date to September 17th instead. The trailer looks very thrilling and the story line seems pretty intense. Besides that, every Matt Damon movie is more than worth watching, because his performances are always beyond amazing!

Green Zone movie review

Posted on 18 March 2010 by Joey DC

green_zone

Beforehand, I have to admit that I was more interested in seeing Matt Damon wearing a uniform than watching another military based movie. However, when Matt collaborated with director Paul Greengrass for the third time, it was pretty clear to me that I got to watch it, no matter what!

In my humble opinion, both did an excellent job and I felt that my money was well spent. Nonetheless, it’s incredibly hard to review a movie with such strong and delicate story line. I’m no soldier, so I believe I’m not in the position nor do I possess the proper knowledge/experience to judge the movie’s topic. I wanna focus on the positive aspects that caught my attention.

The filming locations deserve to be rated with an A+. I have never been so impressed and astonished before, when it comes to authenticity of representing a Middle Eastern country in a movie. At times, it was even so realistic that I thought they actually went down to Baghdad/Iraq (Filming locations were in Spain, UK and Morocco).

The movie itself was very fast-paced, so the runtime of 115 minutes felt like nothing. I’m not a big fan of action sequences, but I did enjoy them in Green Zone. They weren’t overdone, and pretty comprehensible.

roymillerMatt Damon as Chief Warrant Officer Roy Miller

Matt Damon was in top form, and portrayed his character as Chief Warrant Officer Roy Miller absolutely believable. Despite all skeptics, Green Zone wasn’t a cheap “Bourne” rip-off movie at all. In fact, the only similarity you will come across is an extremely dedicated Matt Damon, who once again keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Check out the official website of  the movie “Green Zone” here. It offers a lot of great pictures, videos, downloads and more. I personally can’t wait for the DVD to be released, because after the movie was over I felt like watching it all over again.

Green Zone starring Matt Damon movie trailer

Posted on 11 January 2010 by Joey DC

Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass (The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum, United 93) re-team for their latest electrifying thriller in Green Zone, a film set in the chaotic early days of the Iraqi War when no one could be trusted and every decision could detonate unforeseen consequences. During the U.S.-led occupation of Baghdad in 2003, Chief Warrant Officer Roy Miller (Damon) and his team of Army inspectors were dispatched to find weapons of mass destruction believed to be stockpiled in the Iraqi desert. Rocketing from one booby-trapped and treacherous site to the next, the men search for deadly chemical agents but stumble instead upon an elaborate cover-up that inverts the purpose of their mission. Spun by operatives with intersecting agendas, Miller must hunt through covert and faulty intelligence hidden on foreign soil for answers that will either clear a rogue regime or escalate a war in an unstable region. And at this blistering time and in this combustible place, he will find the most elusive weapon of all is the truth.

“True Grit” to be remade by Coen Brothers starring Matt Damon, Jeff Bridges and Josh Brolin

Posted on 02 December 2009 by David

coen-oscars-home-large

Looks like the Coen brothers will be making their remake of the John Wayne classic “True Grit” in the area of Austin,
with the shoot revving up in March.

Sources say Joel and Ethan Coen are checking areas east of Austin, rustic, old-timey places like Elgin, Taylor and Granger
(for the railroad there). They’re looking for scrub and farmland and want to be “as close to Austin as possible.”

Slated to star are Matt Damon, Jeff Bridges and Josh Brolin in the remake of the revenge movie. The original, an Oscar-winner directed by
Jeff Bridges will inhabit Wayne’s memorable role as Marshall “Rooster” Cogburn.

The Coens are also looking at Utah, Arizona and New Mexico for the film’s finale, a big shootout set in the Rockies. Evidently,
Texas just can’t supply that kind of landscape.

The production will be headquartered in Austin. The film is set for a 2011 release.

We will keep an eye out when production starts, if anyone has information about this one just write it below or send an email to admin@beforethetrailer.com  If you have a role in the movie, are an extra or just in the area let us know what you know.
