Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World Teaser!

Posted on 26 March 2010 by Andrew

The epicness is here!  The Scott Pilgrim vs The World teaser is out just hints at the insanity we are in for.  The film is directed by Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) and stars Michael Cera as he has to battle his recent girlfriend’s seven ex boyfriends to win her love.  The trailer has video game and nerd references everywhere.  Some that I caught was the “KO” sound effect I’v heard in many games, the one person dissolving into coins when he was hit by the flaming sword, and the blue sword that looked like it came directly out and 8-bit game.  This is going to be a hit or miss film just like Edgar’s other directorial efforts.  I’m a big fan of Wright so I will definitely be there opening day.  The trailer is embedded below.

John Krasinski Out for Captain America

Posted on 09 March 2010 by David

The internet rumor mill has been set ablaze the past couple of days over the casting of the title character for the Joe Johnson directed CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER. More recently, the focus has been on the possibility of THE OFFICE star, John Krasinski as a forerunner. Early today, it was announced that he even seemed to be the forerunner, which sparked outrage from basement dwelling Marvel Comics fans anyway. Well, comic fans who have gotten their panties all in a twist can rest easy. Krasinksi is out.

According to SlashFilm, the names now being shot around seem to be Mike Vogel of CLOVERFIELD, and Garret Hedlund of TRON: LEGACY, who were previously on the list. They also appear to be looking at Marvel alumni Chris Evans, who previously appeared as Johnny Storm in the two FANTASTIC FOUR films.

We originally heard from director Joe Johnson that a Captain America would be selected by March 1st. Nine days have now passed since that date, which is leaving us to believe that this is a far more difficult decision than they had originally guessed.

This is a whole lot of hubbabaloo over a super hero I’ve never really cared all that much about. I have to say, Krasinski’s name was the first time I’ve ever really raised my eyebrow in any sort of interest. It’s probably only because of my OFFICE fandom, but I enjoy him quite a bit, even though a majority of the movies he’s been in have been… Well, not so great. I do suppose, however, that this saves THE OFFICE writers from having to explain why new father, Jim Halpert, has suddenly packed on an extra 25 pounds of muscle.

What are everyone’s thoughts? Sound off.
