New York Filming Locations

Black Swan, Natalie Portmans movie is still filming in the Brooklyn area today.   (Thanks Nick!!) He let us know
they are filming at the area of Washington Ave.

Law and Order is filming on location in the Bronx today, near Locus Point. (Thanks Steph for getting us that info this morning)

In New York City Brandon got us information for both Gossip Girl and Law and Order:SVU

Gossip Girl is filming in the area of 120th and 122nd in the Broadway and Riverside area, and this is on location in NYC

Law and Order: SVU is filming also on location in New York City near the area of 2nd Avenue at East 27th

Filming starts today on “The Convincer”   we are trying to narrow down specific locations and hopefully we can have
streets.

The film will shut down traffic for brief periods on 9th Av S.  
This will happen this Wednesday from 8:30 to 4:00pm.   
It is believe they are planning some shots on Mainstreet and in Hobby Acres as well

On March 1st (which is a few weeks away) they will be filming at the area of CoCo and Union Depot at 213 4th Street in St. Paul, Minn.

I received a notification email from Paramount Pictures that the official site for Shutter Island has launched with videos, downloads and more information about the film. You can also read about Martin Scorsese, Leonardo DiCaprio and the rest of the cast and filmmakers. Click here to visit. Definitely a must for every fan, as you can also get high resolution wallpapers for your computer. Besides, the official website is set up beautifully, so also a must-see for every web designer. Shutter Island hits the movie theaters on February 19, 2010 and I’m quite certain that it is another masterpiece by Martin Scorsese and the incredibly talented actor Leonardo DiCarpio.

The world’s largest sound stage is now open, right here in West Michigan. Hanger42 Studios is ready for business in Walker, Michigan in the former Lear plant.

You can find out about future job possibilities at Hanger42 Studio’s website. Operators of Hangar42 Studios announced Thursday that they will be opening a 500,000 square-foot, full-service film production studio in the old structure. 

The film tax incentives have brought hundreds of millions of dollars in productions to Michigan. Hanger42 Studios is an example of a permanent structure, to draw more movies to West Michigan.

They made airplanes in the building during World War II. They will make movies here in the 21st century.

The former manufacturing plant on Alpine Avenue is now known as Hanger42 Studios. Hanger because of the airplane origins and 42 because it was built in 1942.

The building has already been used to film movies such as “The Gun” starring Val Kilmer and 50 Cent.

Rick Hert of the West Michigan Film Office says Hanger42 is open and ready for business. He says, “Because of the size of this space we have the opportunity to have 3, 4, 5, 6
projects going in here at a time.”

Gossip Girl is filming in the Central Park area for the rest of the week.   If this
can be confirmed, let us know, or if it can be narrowed down to certain streets!!

This past Tuesday, Avatar beat a record that I thought would go unbeaten in my lifetime.  Avatar overtook Titanic’s Domestic record of $601 million on Tuesday, and their looks to be no end in sight, especially with it’s 9 Oscar nominations this week.  Many of you will cite inflation, 3D ticket price costs and other things to negate Avatar’s record breaking run, but in all fairness money is money to the studios, and Avatar has made the most ever.  Also, consider all the things going against it like high ticket costs, blu ray, home theatre, ridiculous hype, and internet piracy and still it made all of that money.   As of now, Avatar is at $2.05 billion worldwide, which is also a worldwide record.  Head on over the The-Numbers.com to see a full list of Avatar’s records, there are many more like weekend and international records that I didn’t list here.  Potentially, at it’s current pace, $750 Million domestic and $2.8 billion worldwide is not out of the question.  James Cameron has once again claimed his throne as box office king, and who would have predicted the movie to beat Titanic would be none other than James Cameron’s next film.

Just when you thought Fast and the Furious 4 was stretching it, Universal announced today that they will be going ahead with yet another sequel to the popular franchise.  This time, they are calling it “Fast Five” which reminds me of high fives, like “Yay, we’re making another sequel,” as all the Universal executives give each other high fives.  Kidding.  Anyways, Justin Lin (Tokyo Drift) will direct with Vin Diesel and Paul Walker returning, supposedly as fugitives running from the law. Universal is aiming for a 2011 release.  The last installment, Fast & Furious, made $360 Million worldwide and was the most profitable in the franchise, so a fifth movie doesn’t seem like too much of a stretch from a financial standpoint for Universal.

Also, in a totally unrelated franchise, Disney has hired a writer and director for a sequel to their 2007 hit Enchanted.  I’m surprised it took Disney this long.  Jessie Nelson (Stepmom, Fred Claus) will write the screenplay and Anne Fletcher (Step Up, 27 Dresses, The Proposal) will direct.  This doesn’t seem like good news to me because the original creators are not helping with this sequel.  Hasn’t Disney learned from their countless bad sequels in the past?

Variety says that Columbia Pictures is moving forward with The Lost Symbol, the third installment of the “Da Vinci Code” franchise. Steven Knight has come on board to adapt Dan Brown’s novel.  Although Tom Hanks hasn’t signed on yet, he is expected to.   Imagine and Brian Grazer have signed on to produce.

“The story focuses on Freemasonry, and takes place over a period of 12 hours in Washington, D.C. Robert Langdon is summoned to give a lecture in National Statuary Hall at the United States Capitol, with the invitation apparently from his mentor, a 33rd degree Mason named Peter Solomon, who is the head of the Smithsonian Institution. However, when Langdon arrives at the Capitol, instead of an audience for his lecture, he finds the severed right hand of Peter Solomon tattooed into a symbolic Hand of the Mysteries, and pointing straight upwards to the fresco The Apotheosis of Washington on the inside of the Capitol dome. Solomon has been kidnapped by the villain Mal’akh, who demands that Langdon unlock the Ancient Mysteries in return for Solomon’s life. This leads to a game of cat and mouse throughout the museums and architecture of Washington.”

Whoopi Goldberg will join Kathy Bates in the Kate Hudson film ‘Earthbound,’ which is shooting in New Orleans.The comic actress was announced today (Wednesday) as the latest cast member of the New Orleans-set dramatic comedy “Earthbound,” which stars Kate Hudson (”Nine”) and which has been shooting in town since Jan. 18.

Joining Hudson and Goldberg will be Kathy Bates (”The Blind Side,” “Cheri”), as Hudson’s mother, producers said in a news release announcing the recent cast additions.

Already-announced cast members include Gael Garcia Bernal (”Rudo y Cursi”), Rosemarie DeWitt (”Rachel Getting Married”) and Romany Malco (’The 40-Year-Old Virgin”).

Directed by Nicole Kassell, “Earthbound” is the story of an irreverent young cancer patient who unexpectedly falls in love with her doctor.

It’s based on a screenplay by Gren Wells and is produced by John Davis, Mark Gill, Robert Katz and Adam Schroeder for The Film Department. Neil Sacker and Michael Goguen serve as executive producers.

Production is schedule to conclude on March 7. A release date has not been announced.

Other than the locations listed from the Feb 1st update we have a few new Los Angeles locations

Castle is filming on location in Los Angeles at the area of  West 6th Street and South Spring Street again.

NCIS: LA is filming on location in Los Angeles, and will be filming at several locations.   The 1st location is 516 S Anderson St from 10am til 10pm.
The 2nd location is Under the bridge at Whittier Boulevard from Clarence Street to Anderson Street from 8am til 6pm.  The 3rd location is Anderson Street from
4th street to Jesse Street from 6pm til 12am.  The final location is at 4th street from Mateo Street to Anderson Street from 8pm til 6am. So if you are interested
the best area will be Anderson Street and 4th Street.
