Jackie Geary joins Channing Tatum, Jamie Foxx, and Maggie Gyllenhaal in the upcoming action drama thriller "White House Down" hitting theaters June 28.

According to Columbia Pictures, "Capitol Policeman John Cale has just been denied his dream job with the Secret Service of protecting President James Sawyer. Not wanting to let down his little girl with the news, he takes her on a tour of the White House, when the complex is overtaken by a heavily armed paramilitary group. Now, with the nation's government falling into chaos and time running out, it's up to Cale to save the president, his daughter, and the country."

Before the Trailer recently spoke with Geary who may be a familiar face from the small screen with roles on shows including “Weeds,” “Surburgatory,” “NCIS,” “Bones,” and “Castle” just to name a few.

Before the Trailer (BTT): Tell us about your character Jenna and how you made the roll your own.

Jackie Geary (JG): Jenna is the assistant to the Vice President. More importantly, she comes into the mix because she has crush on Channing so kind of having a little fling. Through her connections as the Vice Presidents assistant, she gets him an interview with Maggie who is head of the secret service. In terms of making it my own, Jenna is a woman who is in a high level position in the White House. She has a job to do but at the same time, I tried to bring that human aspect of her as a woman trying to make that move forward at the same time maintaining her profession.

BTT: “White House Down” filmed on replica White House on a soundstage in Montreal and then around the real White House in Washington D.C. What was it like on set?

JG: I was entirely in Montreal which is an absolute beautiful city. They drive you about 10 minutes out of Old Town and you veer on these soundstages that are exact replicas. It’s jaw dropping. My very first day on set, we were doing this very first scene that takes place in the capital building. I walked onto the set and I my jaw dropped, I was at first nervous, it is exact, you feel like you are there. I also did a lot of work in an exact replica of Air Force One. Again, jaw dropping, the pentagon, the White House itself, it was truly unbelievable, the scale and the work.

BTT: What memorable behind the scenes moment stands out to you?

JG: There were so many amazing moments. The caliber of actors on that set was crazy with Richard Jenkins, who I am an immense fan of, and James Woods, Maggie Gyllenhaal, all of these actors that were incredible. Michael Murphy plays the Vice President, Peter Jacobson in the House who is the other VP side kick with me. We would get into these conversations about the early day of their careers and listening to people like Richard Jenkins and Lance Reddick and Michael Murphy talk about their early struggles when they were just people trying to get work was so exceptional for me as an actor. I will never forget that. Michael Murphy, Peter Jacobson, and I we were kind of a little crew and we would hang out together. One long day, we went out for dinner in Old town and I was still in makeup and looking kind of fancy from being on set. When we walked out of the restaurant, a homeless guy started following me, harassing me, and giving me trouble. Michael Murphy, who is in his early 70s at this point, starts trying to defend me like “leave her alone man, come on. Stop talking to her, stop bothering her.” This is a funny story even though it might sound terrifying. The homeless guy, who is also a much older guy, went after Michael Murphy trying to punch him and Michael Murphy sort of went down and tried to punch back. Peter then referred to it as Michel going down with the speed of erosion. It was two guys swinging at each other and nobody really touched anybody else. But I was in the middle of the street streaming and Peter was pulling them off of each other. They came apart like air. Then we were all running down the street laughing hysterically and a little scared. It was the weirdest comradely moment. From there on in, we were a very tight little group.

BTT: You have starred in many television shows including “Weeds,” “Surburgatory,” “NCIS,” “Bones,” and “Castle.” What was is like on the set of “Surburgatory?”

JG: So fantastic. I just have so much praise and respect for that show, those writers, that cast, they could not have been more amazing. We shot that episode and the night before, I went to a friend’s baby shower and eaten something and had some sort of crazy allergic fit. It started at 1:00 am and I had to get up at 5:30. During the actual day of shooting, I did not know what it was, I found out later what it had been. I was on no sleep and steroids and also taking three or four Benadryl’s every four hours. Makeup was having this chase with this crazy rash to try to keep it covered. They could not have been more wonderful and they took such amazing care of me. I had a blast, the insanity, that was my absolute favorite thing I have ever shot.

BTT: What is your advice to those wanting to enter into the business?

JG: Everybody says it’s so hard and you have to be so patient and all of that is true. It’s a whole other thing when you are living it day to day/month to month/year to year. You really have to just love it so much for what it is. You have to have that perspective in the long term. I have seen some many actor friends spend a year to two and sort of give up because you have to be your own source of encouragement for the first five to 10 years. It is so easy to get caught up in the disappointment and the pain and the depression.

BTT: What other projects do you currently have in works?

JG: I have this wonderful passion project happening with my husband and my best friends’ husband. My best friends husband is Gregory Fitzsimmons, not the stand up, but the editor/Indi director, and he has written for my husband and I, this fantastic, bizarre web series that is about to be released this month called and “Jon and Jen are Married.” We are a very dysfunctional married couple in their mid 30’s. I am kind of having a third life crisis about what it all means but in a bitchy psychotic way. There are kidnappings and house burglaries and very bizarre dark things that happen just to make me feel alive. There is a purpose, my husband kind of goes along with things. It’s a very twisted wonderful project and fantastic to work with my husband in this great creative environment with friends.
