February is here, and our gift to you is a round up of all the major releases coming up this month. As far as Valentines day films, there are two big ones going head to head; the Nicholas Sparks heartbreaker The Vow, starring Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams, and the action comedy This Means War, starring Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine and Tom Hardy.

If none of these films appeal to you, many of the films up for Academy Awards are being re-released in anticipation of the ceremony at the end of the month, so be on the look out at your local theatres.

February 3rd:

The Woman in Black

Starring: Daniel Radcliffe, in his first big screen role outside of the Harry Potter franchise

A young lawyer travels to a remote village where he discovers the vengeful ghost of a scorned woman is terrorizing the locals.

Big Miracle

Starring: Drew Barrymore and John Krasinski

In small town Alaska, a news reporter recruits his ex-girlfriend – a Greenpeace volunteer – on a campaign to save a family of gray whales trapped by rapidly forming ice in the Arctic Circle.

W.E.

Starring: Abbie Cornish, James D’Arcy, Andrea Riseborough… Oh yea, and it was written/directed by Madonna

A two-tiered romantic drama focusing on the affair between King Edward VIII and American divorcée Wallis Simpson and a contemporary romance between a married woman and a Russian security guard.

Perfect Sense

Starring: Ewan McGregor and Eva Green

A chef and a scientist fall in love as an epidemic begins to rob people of their sensory perceptions.

February 10th:

Safe House

Starring: Ryan Reynolds and Denzel Washington

A young CIA agent is tasked with looking after a fugitive in a safe house. But when the safe house is attacked, he finds himself on the run with his charge.

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island

Starring: Dwane “The Rock” Johnson, Josh Hutcherson (soon to be seen in The Hunger Games) and Vanessa Hudgens

Sean Anderson partners with his mom's boyfriend on a mission to find his grandfather, who is thought to be missing on a mythical island.

February 14th:

The Vow

Starring: Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams

A car accident puts Paige in a coma, and when she wakes up with severe memory loss, her husband Leo works to win her heart again.

February 17th:

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance

Starring: Nicolas Cage, Idiris Elba, Ciaran Hinds

The sequel to the 2007 film Ghost Rider; as Johnny Blaze hides out in Eastern Europe, he is called upon to stop the devil, who is trying to take human form.

The Secret World of Arrietty

An animated feature; the Clock family are four-inch-tall people who live anonymously in another family's residence, borrowing simple items to make their home. Life changes for the Clocks when their daughter, Arrietty, is discovered.

Thin Ice

Starring: Greg Kinnear, Billy Crudup and Alan Alda

An insurance agent looking for a way out of frigid Wisconsin is blackmailed by an unstable locksmith in the theft of a rare violin that belongs to a retired farmer.

This Means War

Starring: Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine and Tom Hardy

Two top CIA operatives wage an epic battle against one another after they discover they are dating the same woman.

February 24th:

Wanderlust

Starring: Jennifer Aniston, Paul Rudd and Malin Akerman

Rattled by sudden unemployment, a Manhattan couple surveys alternative living options, ultimately deciding to experiment with living on a rural commune where free love rules.

Gone

Starring: Amanda Seyfried, Jennifer Carpenter and Wes Bentley

When her sister disappears, Jill is convinced the serial killer who kidnapped her two years ago has returned, and she sets out to once again face her abductor.

Tyler Perry’s Good Deeds

Starring: Tyler Perry, Gabrielle Union and Thandie Newton

Tyler Perry’s latest tells the story of a man who, right before his wedding, develops complicating feelings for a single mom.
