Halloween is upon us.   We wanted to take the opportunity to introduce our list of the five scariest movies of all time.  For those of you who are interested in checking out the locations, or who are planning on taking a vacation we will list their filming locations for you.

5. A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) ~ In the dreams of his victims, a specteral child murderer stalks the children of the members of the lynch mob that killed him. The film stars Heather Langenkamp and Robert Englund.

Filming took place at 1428 Genesee Avenue in West Hollywood, California

4. Friday The 13th (1980) ~ Camp counselors are stalked and murdered by an unknown assailant while trying to re-open a summer camp that was the site of a child’s drowning. The film stars Betsy Palmer and Adrienne King.

Filming took place at Camp NoBeBoSco in Hardwick, New Jersey

3. The Shining (1980) ~ A family heads to an isolated hotel for the winter where an evil and spiritual presence influences the father into violence, while his psychic son sees horrific forebodings from the past and of the future. The film stars Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall.

Filming took place at Timberline Lodge at Mt Hood, Oregon

2. The Exorcist (1973) ~ When a teenager is possessed by a mysterious entity, her mother seeks the help of two priests to save her daughter. The film stars Ellen Burstyn, Max Von Sydow, and Linda Blair.

Filming took place at 3600 Prospect Street in Georgetown, Washington D.C

1. Halloween (1978) ~ A psychotic murderer institutionalized since childhood escapes on a mindless rampage while his doctor chases him through the streets. The film stars Donald Pleasence and Jamie Lee Curtis.

Filming took place at 1503 Orange Grove in Hollywood.  Another house is right across the street at 1537 where filming also took place.
